In 1971 he put his own Band together and started touring as the opening act for the Commodores, Kool and the Gang, Lou Rawls and many others. In 1995 he put together a 12 piece band to do corporate parties, celebrity weddings and Industry parties in NYC. This same band was picked by Stevie Wonder for his daughter Ayesha's wedding. Charles met with Stevie and made sure everything was on point for the big day.  Charles says he will always remember what his Father told him when he first started in 1965, along with buying him his first Wurlitzer electric piano, he said, “Don't get into the Music business to make MONEY, get into it to make MUSIC!”
